Another Life, M.W. |
|
In my short life of twenty-two years, I had become thoroughly disillusioned. I had been in college for two years and had a lot of academic and medical problems. I returned to my parents' home and eventually enrolled in a six month vocational program. At the end of the course, I had my academic confidence back. Another girl and I tied for first. The next experience was to find a job - in the field. I was able to obtain a position in the Hermann Professional Building in Houston. This is just across from the Rice University campus. I still felt an emptiness, even with my new profession. I was also disappointed that the medical field was corrupt. I had had the thought that it wasn't, even though I had found everything else to be such. After I had been working a few months, I met a young man at my bus stop at the edge of the Rice Campus. He was a student there. I found out later that he had just returned from a gospel conference in Los Angeles. He introduced himself and asked me if I was satisfied with my life. I couldn't believe that he asked me this. My answer was a strong No! He told me that I could have another life. I could have the Lord's life! I was amazed! I had never heard such a thing. I only knew about being good. I had heard hell fire sermons that did not convince me to do anything. I definitely wanted another life. I prayed then and there to receive the Lord. The brother who led me to the Lord was a brother in the local church. When I received the Lord I also found my home. I didn't have to go on a search. |
